Day 1
Istanbul

Welcome to Istanbul! Upon arrival, you will be greeted by one of our local Travelous, English-speaking representatives who will be holding a sign with your name printed on it. Transfer in private vehicle with full assistance to your hotel for check-in.

Istanbul, formerly known as Byzantium, is an unbelievably fascinating city where ancient history meets modernity at its best. As a result of its strategic location along the historic Silk Road and the only sea route between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean, Istanbul is the place where East and West come together in a harmonious fusion of color, sight and sound. The still glorious city of Istanbul was once the capital of the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire, the Latin Empire and the Ottoman Empire. Today, it is in the top five most visited cities in the world because it offers an abundance of absolutely incredible and unique cultural, historic, architectural, gastronomic and natural wealth.

Enjoy an adventurous evening exploring the area or simply relaxing in your hotel.

Day 2
Istanbul

After breakfast, get ready for your fun-filled and in-depth Istanbul tour. Your tour starts with a visit to the Hippodrome, which is the scene of Byzantine chariot races. Next, you will visit Topkapi Palace, the imperial residence of Ottoman sultans, housing 600 year-old souvenirs and exhibiting imperial treasure.

Once you've savored a delicious lunch, you will continue to the St. Sophia Museum, one of the greatest marvels of architecture. It was once a patriarchal basilica before it was converted into an Islamic mosque. Now, it is one of the most visited museums in the world. Finally, visit the famous Grand Covered Bazaar, which is the world"s largest and oldest covered market with over 60 streets. Go for a "shopping spree" in this labyrinth of more than 4000 shops. Choose leather, carpets, jewels or copper crafts, but be sure to bargain!

The crumbling legacy of persecuted Christians trying to escape the Muslim onslaught in 1st - 10th centuries AD by effectively heading underground is one of Turkey"s finest attractions.

Your guided tour of the region includes the World Heritage Listed Goreme Valley to see fascinating examples of rock-cut Byzantine churches and chapels. Stopping on the outskirts of Goreme Village, you will have the opportunity to visit Pigeon Valley where century"s old pigeon houses are carved into the surrounding cliffs. The pigeon droppings that litter the area have been used as fertilizer on crops for generations.
