Day 1
London - Oxford

Welcome to London. A Travelous representative awaits your arrival holding a sign with your name printed on it. Transfer in private vehicle with your local driver guide who will escort you to your touring vehicle. You will be driven a short distance to the nearby royal town of Windsor where you can relax over tea or coffee and start to unwind after your flight.

Your first stop, is none other than Windsor Castle; an official residence to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. After your visit, you will be introduced to the rest of the town before heading to Stratford-Upon-Avon, the home William Shakespeare. Here you will visit Shakespeare"s birthplace and enjoy a guided walking tour of the town before a leisurely drive through the Cotswolds to Oxford, your home for the next few evenings.

Oxford

This morning, enjoy a leisurely breakfast before meeting your local guide for a half day walking tour of this fascinating historic university town. Oxford has long been associated with its world famous university. It has produced its fair share of famous people, David Cameron, Bill Clinton, William Golding, Sir Walter Raleigh & Hugh Grant to name a few. Your guide will explain the unique relationship the university has with the town, some of the stranger traditions involved and of course it's connections with the Harry Potter Films.

Your afternoon is free to continue exploring Oxford. Perhaps you would like to visit the Bodleian Library, immerse yourself in the Ashmolean Museum or just enjoy getting lost amongst the historical surroundings.

Day 3
Oxford

This morning you will meet your local driver/guide, who will be your companion as you discover three English gems: Bath, Stonehenge & The Cotswolds.

Begin your day in the beautiful countryside of the Cotswolds with stops in several villages along the way. Discover local market towns, farmers produce, old pubs & coaching houses. Proceed to Bath by mid-morning for a panoramic tour of the city including the Royal Crescent, followed by a visit to the Roman Baths. As the name suggests these hot springs were officially claimed by the Romans although they existed long before their time. What remains is one of the most impressive displays of Roman architecture of modern times. Learn the history and if you wish, drink the healing waters. After taking time for lunch, continue to Stonehenge, England's most famous prehistoric site. As well as visiting the stones themselves you will also have time to explore the visitor center where the many theories explained as to their existence; make your own mind up about how they got there, who built them, and their purpose. Return to Oxford through the countryside for the evening.

Day 4
Windermere

Depart Oxford this morning, continuing your journey north. Your day begins with a visit to Blenheim Palace, home to the 12th Duke of Marlborough and his family. This is a stately home on a grand scale and also the birthplace of none other than Sir Winston Churchill. Continuing onto the city of Coventry which includes a brief tour of the city and its Cathedral before meeting your train taking you further north. Coventry was bombed extensively during the 2nd World War and the cathedral at the time was destroyed. A new cathedral was built which contains some of the best examples of 1950's & 60's architecture in the country.

Your guide will escort you to the train station mid-afternoon where you"ll have reserved seats for the direct train service to the Lake District.

On arrival to Oxenholme, about 2 and a half hours later, you"ll be met by your driver for a private transfer to the town of Windermere and hotel for overnight.

Day 5
Windermere

Today, you will join a shared small group tour on board a comfortable mini-bus to discover the wild and rugged landscape of the Lake District. This "Ten Lakes Spectacular" provides the ultimate tour of the "most beautiful corner of England". Enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Lakeland fells, valleys and lakes from the south to the north. The tour includes a lake cruise in the summer months, a visit to the 4,000 year old Castlerigg Stone Circle set high on the fells, and time in Keswick for lunch, with plenty of stops for admiring the views and taking photographs.

Day 6
York

Today, we bid farewell to the Lakes and head east across the country through the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Experience the unique countryside of this part of the country making stops in Wensleydale, home to the famous cheese of the same name. See the process and taste the finished product! Pass by the Aysgarth Falls: the film location for Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. There will also be time to enjoy a local beer and visit a local brewery. Arrive at York, your next destination in the early evening.

Day 7
York

York is one of England's most historical cities with a rich and turbulent history, dating back to Roman times when it was established as a main city in their push for the north. After the Romans left, it became a central point for the Anglo-Saxons and subsequent Viking raids. The Viking capital of England for a time, hear all about this and much more during your private guided tour of the city. Visit the "shambles", a maze of medieval streets and houses within the city walls as well as a visit to York Minster - the largest gothic cathedral in northern Europe.

Day 8
York - London

Depart York on the direct London train. Take a local taxi (not included) for the very short ride to York Station just outside the city walls to board the train. Journey time is just over 2 hours to the capital city.

Transfer in private vehicle from King's Cross Station to your hotel for check in.

Why not make use of your London Oystercard and travel like a Londoner on the underground while you get your bearings in the capital? 3 days of Travel covered by tube (Subway) and bus to help you get around London. The Oystercard provides the freedom and flexibility to explore London at your leisure and for shorter transfers with your guide. Enjoy some of London's famous free museums and galleries. Our favourite places include the Wallace Collection, The National Gallery & The British Museum. Spectacular collections await in an architecturally inspiring surrounding.

London

After an early breakfast, you will be collected by a courtesy shuttle service to join up with your guide and fellow passengers for a full day shared coach tour of London, taking in all the iconic sights. See Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace (subject to date), visit the Tower of London to see the crown Jewels, enjoy a guided tour of St Pauls Cathedral and take a Thames river cruise. All with an expert live guide for the day.

London

Armed with your Visitor Oystercard you will make your way by public transport (underground) to the "Cutty Sark" station in Greenwich. Allow yourself plenty of time and enjoy this unique form of transport. On arrival at the station walk 5 minutes to meet your guide at the Sir Walter Raleigh Statue next to the Cutty Sark ship. Here you will join a shared group of around 6 other guests for a personal and informative full day walking tour of Royal Greenwich with a local expert. This area of London is widely overlooked by visitors but in actual fact is the jewel in London"s crown. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and packed with sites including the Cutty Sark Tea Clipper, the National Maritime Museum, the Old Naval College, the Royal Observatory, and home to Greenwich Meantime. Enjoy views of London like no other from the Royal Observatory and stand across the Meridian Line dividing the Eastern & Western Hemispheres. Enjoy a traditional riverside pub lunch along the way (included).

On your final evening, embark on the Thames River Dinner Cruise. Enjoy a delicious 4 course meal with welcome drink, half bottle of wine per person and after dinner liqueurs, with live entertainment & dancing to follow. Glide down the river, under the iconic Tower Bridge with a guaranteed window seat as you pass by the city sights lit up in all their glory. Private transfers to and from your hotel are included.

  • Airfare to/from the Tour start point, including domestic or inter-country connecting flights, unless otherwise stated in itinerary.
  • tips and gratuities
  • items of a personal nature such as incidentals, excess baggage charges
  • airport taxes/entrance fees, port charges, foreign government departure taxes
  • Visas (unless otherwise indicated), Inspection, Customs, Immigration and Naturalization fees Additional fuel surcharges on cruises
  • Travel Insurance including Medical, Lost Baggage and Trip cancellation
  • Optional activities (golf, watersports, etc.)
  • any other activities or items not explicitly advertised as included in the price of a Tour

 

Reservations/Booking and Deposits:  To book a Tour, each Traveler (or leader of a Group of Travelers) must submit:

 

A.     A completed booking form signed electronically by the main Traveler. By submitting the booking form on the payments page, the traveler accepts our full Terms and Conditions.  

B.     A deposit of 30% of the Tour price (minimum $250 per person), is due immediately upon booking.

C.     The full balance of the trip cost is due ninety days (90) before the trip departure date.

D.      If you book your trip with us ninety days (90 days) or less before the departure date, the full cost of the trip is due at that time.

E.      In the instance payment is made by certified check or wire transfer, reservations will only commence once the check is cleared.

F.      Availability of Services and Accommodations cannot be guaranteed until a Tour is booked.  We will exercise our best efforts to book the Services and Accommodations described in the Tour Itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of Tour date, we may be forced to offer substitutes.  In this instance we will notify you as soon as possible and try to substitute comparable Services and Accommodations based on availability.

G.     Ticketing & credit card processing for international transport and other select domestic airfare pertaining to a specific country is done by a 3rd party and not included in your total land package price unless otherwise stated.

H.     Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $250 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of 30% of program price. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to loss of 100% of program price.

       *NOTE: Certain destinations require a 30% non-refundable deposit at the time of booking and therefore, would supersede our standard cancellation policy prior to 90 days in this instance.
