Head to the truly mesmerizing Museo Botero, featuring unique paintings and sculptures by Colombia's own Fernando Botero. Next, take a cable car to discover the verdant Montserrate mountain that stands guard over Bogota. After breakfast, your local guide and driver will take you on a drive through the countryside to the colonial village of Zipaquira.

Visit the world's only salt cathedral, an antiquated salt mine that was brilliantly transformed into a functioning salt cathedral. Be amazed by the icons and sculptures that were carved into the walls of this salt cave by talented sculptors and artists. Upon leaving the cathedral, explore the village's main square where you will have the chance to enjoy locally baked desserts and the handicraft market.

Evening at leisure to explore Bogota. Travelous recommends taking a walk through the Parque de la 93, known for being a music and cultural hot spot.

Bogota - Leticia - Tanimboca

Transfer in private vehicle with full assistance from your hotel to Bogota Airport.

Upon arrival in Leticia, a Travelous representative will be waiting to escort you on a private transfer to Tanimboca Natural Reserve, located in the Amazon Jungle, only seven miles away from Leticia Airport.

Lunch at a local restaurant will be followed by a short meeting where the schedule for the next few days will be explained by a bilingual guide.

Dinner will be followed by a private guided hike through the jungle to introduce you to nocturnal creatures and the incredible sounds and sights of animal nightlife. Look out for monkeys and caiman!

Your accommodation is in the treetops of this tropical jungle, a place where you will have opportunity to come face to face with the most exotic of species.

Get ready for an exhilarating canopy tour at 35 meters above the ground. Trek through the Amazon Jungle to visit a "maloca" (term for a traditional Indigenous treehouse) in which several families lived together, sharing their culture and knowledge. Throughout the trek, your native guide will teach you about the traditional plants and their uses as well as how to build household items with jungle materials.

Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant, then embark on a fishing activity on the Tacana River where monkeys can be glimpsed swinging in the trees on the shore. Enjoy splashing through this gentle river as parrots chatter in the tree tops above and exotic fish dart below.

Puerto Narino

A local guide will pick you up after breakfast and take you to the river dock. Hop on a speed boad to Puerto Narino and a scenic one-and-a-half-hour boat ride away, up-river.

Passing by Monkey Island and Puerto Alegria, arrive in Puerto Narino, a quiet town located on the Amazon River where motorized vehicles are forbidden. From Puerto Narino, take a short boat ride to the open waters of Lake Tarapoto where pink dolphins and caiman have made their home. If you wish, fish for piranhas but look out for anacondas!

Return to Puerto Narino where you will have some time at leisure to explore the indigenous culture that permeates this small town. The colorful homes set among pristine flora and fauna offer an example of how it is possible for humans to co-exist harmoniously with nature. Visit the Natutama Museum to gain more insight into the indigenous cultures whose existence is intertwined with the Amazon River.

This tour takes you into the heart of the region, through the stunning beauty of the Cocora Valley.

The tour will bring you from the far northeast of Quindio to the magnificent Valle Cocora, home to the elegant wax palm which grows in one of its few natural habitats. Head to Filandia where the glorious main square whispers of past days of grandeur. A coffee break in one of the many local coffee shops will allow you to take in the quaintness of uninterrupted lines of brightly painted houses in this traditional Pueblo.

From Filandia, drive to the Valle Cocora (Cocora Valley). Part of the wider Parque Nacional Los Nevados, the valley is located on the eastern limits of Quindio along the central Andean range. This area has a unique landscape, akin to that of a Swiss Alps. The wax palms cover the mountain range, which is now protected after having been declared a national monument to protect the tree itself and the endemic species that depend on it. Next is the town of Salento, the first settlement in Quindio of modern times dating back to 1850. This picturesque town boasts several fine houses of traditional architectural style. Rimmed by distant snow capped mountains, Salento is a real mountain village.

In the afternoon, enjoy a latte art activity, where the mysterious details of designing intricate patterns in coffee using steaming milk will be fully disclosed.

Medellin

Travel to Santa Fe de Antioquia for your full day tour of the town, a journey of about approximately 2 hours. Set in a lush, hot valley on the banks of the Rio Cauca, Santa Fe de Antioquia is the oldest settlement in the region. Founded in 1541, it served as the capital of the department until 1826 when the state capital moved to Medellin. The town has kept much of its colonial charm, including the narrow streets and whitewashed colonial style buildings, many of which have a large central courtyard in which to relax away from the midday heat.

The central plaza is dominated by the principal church of the town. The plaza is also home to a daily market where vendors sell various tamarind product that grow locally. Take a tour of the stalls and try a few samples of this local delicacy. There are several churches and important colonial buildings to visit but the greatest pleasure is in exploring the narrow streets infused with rich history and a vibrant culture. As an additional side trip, you can take a "Moto" or covered motor bike taxi down to the Cauca River to see the famous suspension bridge, said to be the oldest in the Americas. You will arrive back in Medellin during the late afternoon.


Evening at leisure to discover Medellin at your own pace. Travelous recommends taking a salsa lesson at one of the many dance studios that offer them for free or at a low cost.

Embark on a full day tour with your private guide. Set off first to the Castillo San Felipe. The castle is the largest Spanish fortification in the Americas, dominating the old town of Cartagena. The first fortification on the site was started in 1536 and further extended over the following 200 years, mostly through slave labor. From the fort, continue to the Convento La Popa. The hill is the highest point in the city and commands excellent views of the bay, the old town and Caribbean Sea beyond. Started initially as a humble wooden chapel, it was later replaced by a more solid construction that was fortified two centuries later.

Your tour will take you through the old town under the Puerta Del Reloj, a symbol of Cartagena, into the Plaza de los Coches. Your guide will divulge the myths and legends, histories and stories of Cartagena from ancient times right up to the present. From the Plaza San Pedro Claver with its stunning Church, on to the Plaza Bolivar, with its shady areas, sip a fresh lemonade while watching the world go by.

Reservations/Booking and Deposits:  To book a Tour, each Traveler (or leader of a Group of Travelers) must submit:

 

A.     A completed booking form signed electronically by the main Traveler. By submitting the booking form on the payments page, the traveler accepts our full Terms and Conditions.  

B.     A deposit of 30% of the Tour price (minimum $250 per person), is due immediately upon booking.

C.     The full balance of the trip cost is due ninety days (90) before the trip departure date.

D.      If you book your trip with us ninety days (90 days) or less before the departure date, the full cost of the trip is due at that time.

E.      In the instance payment is made by certified check or wire transfer, reservations will only commence once the check is cleared.

F.      Availability of Services and Accommodations cannot be guaranteed until a Tour is booked.  We will exercise our best efforts to book the Services and Accommodations described in the Tour Itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of Tour date, we may be forced to offer substitutes.  In this instance we will notify you as soon as possible and try to substitute comparable Services and Accommodations based on availability.

G.     Ticketing & credit card processing for international transport and other select domestic airfare pertaining to a specific country is done by a 3rd party and not included in your total land package price unless otherwise stated.

H.     Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $250 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of 30% of program price. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to loss of 100% of program price.

       *NOTE: Certain destinations require a 30% non-refundable deposit at the time of booking and therefore, would supersede our standard cancellation policy prior to 90 days in this instance.
