Upon arrival at San Jose airport, you will be greeted by one of our local Travelous, English-speaking representatives who will be holding a sign with your name printed on it. Your representative will take you to your hotel where you will pick up your travel packet with vouchers and specific information regarding your travels.

Puerto Viejo

The Pacuare River is one of the best choices for your adventure treks in Costa Rica, offering a perfect blend of wilderness exposure and excitement in one day. Pacuare is world famous for its sheer beauty: it is flanked by steep, green walls and you will enjoy the feeling of total isolation from urban life and the realness of being connected with nature.

See waterfalls, tropical birds such us toucans and parrots, sloth, coatis, morpho butterflies and colorful frogs being common sights. It is not an overly challenging river, but it has plenty of rapids, providing a fun-filled adventure. The 18 mile one day run includes a total of 52 rapids.

We finish in Siquirres, where you can freshen up. Transfer the rest of the way to Puerto Viejo by land.

The trek at Kekoldi begins inside a former abandoned cocoa plantation. During the hike you will enjoy listening to birds, frogs and other animals while observing varieties of butterflies including the morphos. Your guide will take you to a wonderful waterfall 27 meters height where you can enjoy a refreshing swim.

After breakfast, you will leave the vibrant finishing village of Puerto Viejo and begin your travel to Tortuguero by boat.

Today, you will have an adventurous boat ride in Tortuguero National Park. This is a fascinating experience where you can see abundant flora and fauna along the jungle lined canals or Tortuguero. Return to the lodge for free time or for a relaxing siesta, enjoy the pool or go for a walk on the stunning grounds.

Enjoy a delicious dinner at the lodge and night at leisure to explore the incredible surroundings.

After breakfast, you will begin your journey to Arenal leaving Tortuguero by boat and continuing by van. You will take a short break for a delicious lunch enroute. After lunch, you will depart your Tortuguero transportation and be met by your private transfer who will be waiting to take you on onwards to Arenal. Winding through the beautiful valleys and hills of Costa Rica, you will arrive in the La Fortuna/Arenal area around 3:30 p.m.

The awe-inspiring Arenal Volcano measures at least 5,450 feet and has a unique conic shape with a crater that is about 450 feet. Arenal's volcanic activity appears to be decreasing and explosions have become rare. La Fortuna is a hub for adventure seekers & nature lovers and offers a variety of adventures and activities.

Join your informative private guide on a volcano trail through secondary rain forest and up to viewpoints to observe the volcanic activity. Your day ends at Tabacon Hot Springs where you can soak and relax in the hot pools at the base of the Arenal Volcano. Enjoy a mouth-watering dinner at Tabacon, a perfect culmination to the day.

This is a full adrenaline water combo, sure to kick start your vacation! Your trip begins with a 30-minute 4x4 drive into the tropical rainforest outside the town of La Fortuna, in the shadow of the Arenal Volcano. From the first waterfall, you will rappel down from the top into the pristine canyon below. You will have 5 rappels, 4 of which are alongside or right in waterfalls, and one dry rock face on this action packed half day tour.

After breakfast at your resort, you will travel to Monteverde via El Taxi-Boat-Taxi service over the stunning Lake Arenal.

The taxi-boat-taxi service is a one-way transfer between Monteverde and Arenal Volcano and La Fortuna, or vice versa.

The two places are only 136km apart but the shortest direct route by road is not possible because of the mountain ranges. By taking a motorized, covered boat ride across the Arenal Lake you can save time. The shuttle departs twice daily traveling from Monteverde to Arenal, or Arenal to Monteverde. The trip lasts 3 - 4 hours and provides door to door service.

Canopy Extremo is home to the longest and highest cables to be found in the area, offering panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the Nicoya Golf. The excursion will include the famous canopy zip lines, a Tarzan swing measuring 30 meters and reaching a height of about 50 meters, and 1 kilometer Superman cable at 180 meters above the forest.

Private morning transfer to Manuel Antonio where you will have a chance to see white faced monkeys and iguanas that can be found on the beautiful white sand beaches. The drive is 5 hours, with stops for lunch and a crocodile tour along the way.

Enjoy the morning on a private-guided tour through Manuel Antonio National Park with one of our professional naturalist guides. This scenic park attracts over 160,000 people each year to its wide beaches with troops of monkeys that frequent the area. The park consists of mangrove swamps, primary rainforests and marshy woodlands and is bordered by the clear waters of the Pacific Ocean. It is a haven for over 100 mammal species including the highly endangered squirrel monkey, or mono titi.

Start your engines and let the adventure begin! Drive through the beautiful primary and secondary rainforest and alongside the Rio Canas on the only fully automatic ATVs in the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area.

Stop by two waterfalls for photo opportunities and a chance to cool off in the natural pools beneath the cascades. Each driver is equipped with a motor helmet, visor and a 330cc Polaris Trailblazer (for single riders) or a 350cc Yamaha Grizzly (for double riders), both models are fully automatic.

A Travelous representative and private vehicle will transfer you from Manuel Antonio to San Jose for overnight stay.

What's Included:

What's not Included:

  • Airfare to/from the Tour start point, including domestic or inter-country connecting flights, unless otherwise stated in itinerary.
  • tips and gratuities
  • items of a personal nature such as incidentals, excess baggage charges
  • airport taxes/entrance fees, port charges, foreign government departure taxes
  • Visas (unless otherwise indicated), Inspection, Customs, Immigration and Naturalization fees Additional fuel surcharges on cruises
  • Travel Insurance including Medical, Lost Baggage and Trip cancellation
  • Optional activities (golf, watersports, etc.)
  • any other activities or items not explicitly advertised as included in the price of a Tour

 

Reservations/Booking and Deposits:  To book a Tour, each Traveler (or leader of a Group of Travelers) must submit:

 

A.     A completed booking form signed electronically by the main Traveler. By submitting the booking form on the payments page, the traveler accepts our full Terms and Conditions.  

B.     A deposit of 30% of the Tour price (minimum $250 per person), is due immediately upon booking.

C.     The full balance of the trip cost is due ninety days (90) before the trip departure date.

D.      If you book your trip with us ninety days (90 days) or less before the departure date, the full cost of the trip is due at that time.

E.      In the instance payment is made by certified check or wire transfer, reservations will only commence once the check is cleared.

F.      Availability of Services and Accommodations cannot be guaranteed until a Tour is booked.  We will exercise our best efforts to book the Services and Accommodations described in the Tour Itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of Tour date, we may be forced to offer substitutes.  In this instance we will notify you as soon as possible and try to substitute comparable Services and Accommodations based on availability.

G.     Ticketing & credit card processing for international transport and other select domestic airfare pertaining to a specific country is done by a 3rd party and not included in your total land package price unless otherwise stated.

H.     Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $250 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of 30% of program price. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to loss of 100% of program price.

       *NOTE: Certain destinations require a 30% non-refundable deposit at the time of booking and therefore, would supersede our standard cancellation policy prior to 90 days in this instance.
