Welcome to Sri Lanka! Upon arrival at the airport, you will be greeted by one of our local Travelous, English-speaking representatives who will be holding a sign with your name printed on it. Your guide will escort you to your hotel in Negombo in a private, air-conditioned vehicle and assist you with check-in.

Kurunegala

After an early breakfast, you will get on your bikes and cycle to the buzzing city of Kurunegala.

The distance is approximately 50 miles and you will reach Kurunegala just in time for a late lunch. After a delicious traditional meal, you will have the afternoon to explore the area.

Sigiriya

After breakfast, you will begin your 45-mile cycling trip to the spectacular ancient city of Sigiriya.

After Parking your bike's you will climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, also known as the 8th Wonder of the World. This rock fortress was built by King Kasyapa in the 5th century A.D. and was a royal citadel for more than 18 years. In a sheltered pocket, accessed by a spiral stairway, are the famous frescoes. The summit of the rock, with an area of nearly one hectare, was the site of the palace, and the outer wall was built on the very brink of the precipice. The UNESCO sponsored Central Cultural Fund has restored Sigiriya 5th century water gardens to their former glory.

Day 4
Kandy

Today you will have an exciting journey to Kandy with a few stimulating stops en route!

After an early breakfast, you will go to Dambulla by vehicle and visit the Rock Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The rock towers at 525 feet over the surrounding plaints and it is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding area, while the major attractions are spread over 5 caves, which contain statues and paintings. These fascinating paintings and statues are related to Lord Buddha and his life.

You will then cycle to the Matale Spice Garden where you will be served a mouthwatering lunch. After your meal and some time to rest, you will begin your cycle to Kandy, an approximate 50-mile journey.

Nuwara Eliya

Today you will be faced with the greatest challenge in cycling!! The majority of today"s cycling journey will be an ascent, starting from 1,640 above sea level to 6,200 feet above sea level.

You will cycle to Labookellie avoiding the busy main roads. The route that follows will be a scecnic one via Galaha, Puppuressa and Delpitiya and you will visit the Labukelle Tea Estate, where the leaf preparation process will be demonstrated. And you can enjoy a refreshing cup of Tea.

The cycling trip is approximately 50 miles and if you are not too tired by now and up for the challenge, you can continue to cycle to the hotel. You can also opt for being transferred by vehicle.

Day 6
Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast, you will get ready to visit the mystical National Park, Horton Plains.

Horton Plains, its surroundings forests and the adjoining peak wilderness, are of outstanding scenic beauty and conservation importance, unbelievably rich in flora and fauna. The western slopes support the most extensive area of montane cloud forest surviving in the country.

The scarce endemic bird; Sri Lanka's Whistling Thrush is found here. Other biodiversity highlights include the endemic primate Bear Monkey, Rhinohorned Lizard, Dwarf Lizard, Black-lipped Lizard, Giant Squirrel and Sambar. In addition to these, two new species of mammals have been recorded from here in the recent years (Highland Mouse-deer & Sri Lanka Highland Loris).

You will trek to the sharp precipice called "World"s End" which gives you an overwhelmingly beautiful panoramic view of the area below. Be there before 10 am when the mist starts rolling in! After visiting the majestic Baker"s Falls, you will hike back to your hotel.

Yala National Park

After another short trip to Horton's Plains, you will make your way to Yala National Park by vehicle. The Yala National Park is the most visited National Park in Sri Lanka, mostly because it displays a wide array of natural beauty, in addition to housing significant wildlife.You will arrive here by noon and after eating lunch, you will set up camp for the evening.

Enjoy morning and evening game drives at the Yala National Park.

Recently, the park has also received much fame through publicity by National Geographic and the Discovery TV channels, which focused on a leopard research/conservation and identification project. Claims have subsequently been made that Yala National Park has the world"s highest concentration of leopard per square kilometre. Vegetation is primarily grassland and shrub jungle with patches of dense growth while several salt and fresh water lagoons are a haven for a large variety of resident and migrant birds.

During this exciting game drive, your naturalist guides will point out the most exotic of wildlife; keep your eyes peeled and your camera ready!

Sinharaja Forest Reserve

After breakfast, you will transfer to Sinharaja Rain Forest Reserve in a private vehicle. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the last of Sri Lanka"s tropical lowland forest. Spend the day on the trails in this incredible rainforest, filled with rapid waterfalls, fresh rivers and unique species.

Kitulgala

Today you will drive to Kitulgala, a place that many people visit to enjoy the beautiful scenery, to play in the river, and to have a delicious curry lunch at the local restaurants.

The Kelani River is wide at Kitulgala, but it is shallow apart from a deep channel near the opposite bank, so in the drier months it provides a safe and attractive place to swim, wash and play. Sri Lanka's most recently discovered bird, the Serendib Scops Owl was originally heard calling in these forests. The hills above the rubber plantations also have Mountain Hawk Eagle, Crested Treeswift and Layard's Parakeet.

Kitulgala

After meeting with you river guide, you will be escorted to the spot where the fun begins! Your guides will explain the safety procedures and safety equipment before embarking down the river. Enjoy up to two exhilarating hours of white water action on this beautiful tropical river. Get wet and wild through rapids and keep your eyes peeled for jungle animals on the way!

After this excursion, you will cycle to the fascinating Belilena Cave, which holds evidence of a lost generation of Sri Lankans some 12,000 years old. At this time, Balangoda Man, described as Homo sapiens balangodensis by Paul E. P. Deraniyagala, who found ten skeletons of these people, occupied the cave. It is believed they lived more than 32,000 years ago.

  • Airfare to/from the Tour start point, including domestic or inter-country connecting flights, unless otherwise stated in itinerary.
  • tips and gratuities
  • items of a personal nature such as incidentals, excess baggage charges
  • airport taxes/entrance fees, port charges, foreign government departure taxes
  • Visas (unless otherwise indicated), Inspection, Customs, Immigration and Naturalization fees Additional fuel surcharges on cruises
  • Travel Insurance including Medical, Lost Baggage and Trip cancellation
  • Optional activities (golf, watersports, etc.)
  • any other activities or items not explicitly advertised as included in the price of a Tour

 

Reservations/Booking and Deposits:  To book a Tour, each Traveler (or leader of a Group of Travelers) must submit:

 

A.     A completed booking form signed electronically by the main Traveler. By submitting the booking form on the payments page, the traveler accepts our full Terms and Conditions.  

B.     A deposit of 30% of the Tour price (minimum $250 per person), is due immediately upon booking.

C.     The full balance of the trip cost is due ninety days (90) before the trip departure date.

D.      If you book your trip with us ninety days (90 days) or less before the departure date, the full cost of the trip is due at that time.

E.      In the instance payment is made by certified check or wire transfer, reservations will only commence once the check is cleared.

F.      Availability of Services and Accommodations cannot be guaranteed until a Tour is booked.  We will exercise our best efforts to book the Services and Accommodations described in the Tour Itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of Tour date, we may be forced to offer substitutes.  In this instance we will notify you as soon as possible and try to substitute comparable Services and Accommodations based on availability.

G.     Ticketing & credit card processing for international transport and other select domestic airfare pertaining to a specific country is done by a 3rd party and not included in your total land package price unless otherwise stated.

H.     Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $250 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of 30% of program price. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to loss of 100% of program price.

       *NOTE: Certain destinations require a 30% non-refundable deposit at the time of booking and therefore, would supersede our standard cancellation policy prior to 90 days in this instance.
