Welcome to Thessaloniki! Upon arrival at the airport, you will be greeted by one of our local Travelous, English-speaking representatives who will be holding a sign with your name printed on it. Your representative will accompany you to your hotel and assist you with check-in.

Thessaloniki

Start your afternoon on this religious tour of Thessaloniki by the Byzantine wall, decorated with a massive battlement. Next we travel all the way to the top of the citadel for a panoramic view of the city. Afterwards, we continue to the old city, with visits of the newly excavated Forum, St. George Church, (an ancient Roman monument, which was transformed into a church), and the Gallerius Arch, which rises over the famous Via Egnatia. End the tour at the St. Demetrious Basilica, dedicated to a distinguished member of the Roman army and a martyred Christian convert.

Thessaloniki

Your private tour day takes you to Kavala, the ancient city that was formerly known as Neapolis. Kavala is Greece's prettiest mainland port with a quaint harbor. It is also the first place in Europe that Apostle Paul landed with his disciples, Timothy, Luke and Silas. As a result, before Neapolis was renamed Kavala, it took the name of Christoupolis because it was the first European city to accept Christianity.

Your tour continues to the town of Philippi, where Paul preached his first evangelical sermon and baptized the first Christians on European soil. See the famous Acropolis, the Market Place , Basilica and the Theatre. You will then enjoy a delicious Mediterranean lunch at local restaurant.

Kalambaka

Today you will make your way to Meteora, one of the largest and most important complexes of Greek Orthodox monasteries in Greece!

En route, you will make a stop in Veria to visit the St. Paul Memorial, situated at the tribune where Paul preached. You will also visit King Phillip"s (Alexander"s father) tomb in Vergina, one of the most outstanding finds in all of Greece.

In the afternoon, after lunch at a local restaurant, you will reach Meteora and see the world famous Byzantine monasteries that are perched precariously on summits of gray rock of varied shapes. Their history goes back to the 14th century when monks sought refuge in the cliffside caves. They then fled higher and built the original wooden shelters, later transformed into monasteries.

Day 5
Athens

From the mountains, your private tour travels southward past Thermopylae and on to the city of Athens, the birthplace of democracy. After checking in to your hotel, you will have time to to relax before your evening city tour and dinner.

Your evening begins with a short panoramic drive through the City Center and up to Mount Lycabettus for a panoramic view of Athens. At the slope of the sacred hill you will be able to see, admire and photo the illuminated Acropolis. Next you will visit the Museum and discover the divine origin of Ancient Greek musical instruments and explore the hidden paradise of Ancient Greek music history and its sounds. Afterwards, enjoy a pleasant walk through the narrow picturesque streets of Plaka - the old city; which will bring you to a Traditional Greek Tavern for dinner. The meal is accompanied with Live music and Greek Folk Dancing in traditional costumes. Return to your hotel for overnight.

After breakfast, meet with your private certified Travelous tour guide and embark on your panoramic tour of Athens; the capital of Greece and the birthplace of Democracy and Philosophy. Pass by the Constitution Square (Syntagma), the Parliament, Tomb of Unknown Soldier guarded by Evzones in their colorful uniforms, the Academy, the University and the National library. On the way to Acropolis pass by Hadrian's Arch, Temple of Olympian Zeus and stop at Panathenian Stadium, where the first Modern Olympic Games were held in 1896. Continue to Acropolis (Ancient City). and admire the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and the Parthenon "the harmony between material and spirit", the monument that "puts order in mind". Continue with a private tour of the new Acropolis Museum, a modern architectural building housing the most important statues from Acropolis and admire the wonders of the classical era (Mondays closed). After your City Tour, you will enjoy lunch in Plaka area leaving you the afternoon to explore the Ancient market before returning to your hotel.

Athens

After breakfast, depart on the coastal road along the Saronic Gulf to the Corinth Canal, which connects the Aegean with the Ionian Sea.

Drive to Mycenae, the Homeric city of Atreides, the city "rich in gold" of the ancient poets. Visit the Lion's Gate, the Cyclopean Walls, and the Royal Tombs. You will have lunch in Mycenae before moving on to Nauplion. Journey to Nauplion through the fertile plain of Argolis, the picturesque town nestled at the foot of a cliff and crowned by the mighty ramparts of the Palamidi Fortress. Leave for Epidauros to visit the Theatre (4th century B.C.), famous for its astonishing acoustics. Return to Athens by the National Road, connecting Epidauros with Corinth.

Athens - Mykonos - Mediterranean

This morning you will have an early transfer in private vehicle to the port of Piraeus, to embark on your cruise to the Greek Islands.

Mediterranean - Patmos

Arrive at the port of Kusadasi on the Turkish coast where you can take an excursion to the ancient city of Ephesus, where Mary, Jesus" mother, lived with John in a small house behind the city. Walk the marble roads, rutted by wheels of countless chariots and pass the ruins, which are architectural masterpieces. It is here that Paul preached to the Ephesians and where he was arrested and cast out of the city.

The ship sets sail at noon for the Island of Patmos, the holy island where Saint John the Divine wrote the book of Revelations. On the excursion, you will visit the cave where he lived, which is now the site of a monastery housing priceless icons and manuscripts.

Mediterranean - Santorini

This morning, visit the island of Crete and explore the incredible Palace of Knossos and its famous "Labyrinth,"" which was the center of the Minoan civilization!

In the late afternoon, you will arrive at Santorini, the volcanic island of the Cyclades. Admire the spectacular caldera, created by the eruption of the nearby islet"s volcano as well as the white washed houses perched on the edge. Marvel at the breathtaking panorama and the world famous sunset in the traditional village of Oia.

Athens

After breakfast on board, you will drive through the fertile plain of Beotia, crossing the towns of Thebes, connected with the tragedy of King Oedipus - Levadia and Arachova.

Arrive at Delphi, the center of the Ancient World, also known as the "Omphalos" (Navel of Earth), whose prestige extended far beyond the boundaries of the Hellenic World. On the slopes of Mount Parnassus, in a landscape of unparalleled beauty and majesty, lie the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios. Visit the Treasury of the Athenians, the Temple of Apollo and the Museum containing masterpieces of Ancient Greek sculpture as the bronze Charioteer and the famous athlete Aghias.

Lunch in the modern village of Delphi, before returning to Athens.

What's not Included:

  • Airfare to/from the Tour start point, including domestic or inter-country connecting flights, unless otherwise stated in itinerary.
  • tips and gratuities
  • items of a personal nature such as incidentals, excess baggage charges
  • airport taxes/entrance fees, port charges, foreign government departure taxes
  • Visas (unless otherwise indicated), Inspection, Customs, Immigration and Naturalization fees Additional fuel surcharges on cruises
  • Travel Insurance including Medical, Lost Baggage and Trip cancellation
  • Optional activities (golf, watersports, etc.)
  • any other activities or items not explicitly advertised as included in the price of a Tour

 

Reservations/Booking and Deposits:  To book a Tour, each Traveler (or leader of a Group of Travelers) must submit:

 

A.     A completed booking form signed electronically by the main Traveler. By submitting the booking form on the payments page, the traveler accepts our full Terms and Conditions.  

B.     A deposit of 30% of the Tour price (minimum $250 per person), is due immediately upon booking.

C.     The full balance of the trip cost is due ninety days (90) before the trip departure date.

D.      If you book your trip with us ninety days (90 days) or less before the departure date, the full cost of the trip is due at that time.

E.      In the instance payment is made by certified check or wire transfer, reservations will only commence once the check is cleared.

F.      Availability of Services and Accommodations cannot be guaranteed until a Tour is booked.  We will exercise our best efforts to book the Services and Accommodations described in the Tour Itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of Tour date, we may be forced to offer substitutes.  In this instance we will notify you as soon as possible and try to substitute comparable Services and Accommodations based on availability.

G.     Ticketing & credit card processing for international transport and other select domestic airfare pertaining to a specific country is done by a 3rd party and not included in your total land package price unless otherwise stated.

H.     Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $250 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of 30% of program price. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to loss of 100% of program price.

       *NOTE: Certain destinations require a 30% non-refundable deposit at the time of booking and therefore, would supersede our standard cancellation policy prior to 90 days in this instance.
