Day 1

Today, you will explore the glorious ancient city of Ephesus and then enjoy the tranquility of rural life.

Your tour will begin with a transfer through the verdant countryside to Ephesus, an incredibly well-preserved open-air museum. Pass through the Magnesia Gate and enter the administrative section of ancient Ephesus. This guided walking tour will take you through one of the most magnificent excavations in the world. You'll see the Odeon, the Fountain of Trajan, the steam baths of Scholastika, the Temple of Hadrian and one of the most famous structures, the Library of Celsus. The facade of the library has two stories with towering Corinthian-style columns on the ground floor and three entrances to the building.

Next, you'll see the Grand Theater where Paul preached to large audiences. It is one of the greatest theaters in antiquity with a capacity of 24,000 seats. Your final destination is through the Arcadian way, where Mark Anthony and Cleopatra once rode in procession.

After your Ephesus tour, you'll continue to the quaint Aegean village of Sirince. Sirince, (pronounced as she-RIN-jay), is a picturesque little village of only 600 inhabitants. It is a beautiful hilltop town located at 1000-feet above sea level. Most of the houses in the village date from the 19th-century or earlier and they were built at a time when Sirince was predominantly a Greek village. The name of the village, Sirince, comes from the word "cirkince", which means "ugly" in Turkish. Before becoming a village that is well known for its vineyards and rich wine, it sat deserted for many years, therefore inheriting this name. Enjoy the fresh smells of fruit as you taste various local wines.

Finally, you will visit Ephesus Theme Park for a refreshing drink and an exclusive interactive show. At the end of your tour, your bus will take you back to Kusadasi where there will be a brief carpet weaving presentation. You will then have some free time to explore downtown Kusadasi before returning to the boat.

Turkey: The cradle of cultures and civilizations connecting Europe and Asia. Historically, the lands of Anatolia, well known as one the earliest settlements, has continued to flourish with the migration of various tribes, and accumulated a large cultural heritage through a line of succeeding empires and civilizations. Ranging from the Sumerians to the Hittites, the Lydians to the Byzantines and the Seljuks to the Ottomans; all have once thrived and expired within the borders of Turkey.
