Van - Dogubeyazit

Flight from Istanbul to Van.

Welcome to Van! Here, you will be greeted by one of our local Travelous, English-speaking representatives who will be holding a sign with your name printed on it. Your representative will escort you to the hotel in Dogubeyazit and assist you with check-in.

The beautiful town of Dogubeyazit is a settlement with a long history. It lies 15km southwest of Mount Ararat, and 35km from the Iranian border. The Dogubeyazit area has had a rich history with monuments dating back to the time of the Kingdom of Urartu (over 2,700 years ago). Before the Ottoman Empire the site was referred to by its Armenian name, Daroynk. There are many places to visit, such as the castle and the mosque of Old Beyazit, where you can find traces of many civilizations.

In Dogubeyazit, you will meet your mountain guide for a briefing about your trekking itinerary. Enjoy an evening at leisure to relax or explore the area.

Hotel Ararat - Standard Room

Day 2
Dogubeyazit - Mt. Ararat - Uzengili

Today, you will begin your unforgettable journey to the Mount Ararat summit.

After an early breakfast, you will get your packs, water and equipment ready and drive to the highest truck stop (approximate elevation 2000 meters/6562 ft). From here, you will begin a four-hour hike that ascends about 1100 meters to Base Camp 1 (3100 meters/10,170 ft.) The distance is about 8-10 km. Base Camp 1 is a lush, green pasture with stonewalls to shield tents from the wind. Once you reach camp, hot drinks and appetizers will be waiting for you.

Day 3
Dogubeyazit - Mt. Ararat - Uzengili

The day begins with a climb to a high camp at 4,200 meters followed by delicious packed lunch. The purpose of this intense climb is to prepare for the Mount Ararat summit climb. A quick, strenuous ascent to a high elevation followed by a descent for sleep will help you acclimate. After catching some stunning views of the surrounding valleys, you will then return to base camp where you'll have an evening of rest and relaxation.

Day 4
Dogubeyazit - Mt. Ararat - Uzengili

After breakfast, you will begin a steeper six-hour hike to Base Camp 2 (approximate elevation 4200 meters/13,780 ft). The distance is almost 10 km. Circular clearings among the rocks provide tent sites with a natural windshield. Melted glacier water runs freely near the campsite. You will set up camp in this incredible location that gives you panoramic views of the valleys below.

Day 5
Dogubeyazit - Mt. Ararat - Uzengili

Today, you will start your adventure-packed climb from Base Camp 2 to the summit (elevation 5137 meters/16,854 feet). The duration of the hike is six hours. The ascent usually starts at 2:00 am. Crampons and an ice axe are needed for the final hour of ascent. Spectacular views and an overwhelming adrenaline rush at the victory of conquering this great mountain will reward you! After reaching the summit, you will return to Base Camp 2 by noon to pack and descend to Base Camp 1.

Day 6
Van - Istanbul

After breakfast, begin a 4-hour descent from Base Camp 1 to where a vehicle will be waiting. You will be taken to Van airport for a flight back to Istanbul.

Flight from Van to Istanbul. Duration is 2 hours, 15 minutes.

Transfer in private vehicle with full assistance from the airport to your hotel.

This evening enjoy an adventurous boat tour and evening city tour. This includes visiting floodlit mosques, savoring a traditional meal and enjoying a fascinating belly dance performance.

  • Airfare to/from the Tour start point, including domestic or inter-country connecting flights, unless otherwise stated in itinerary.
  • tips and gratuities
  • items of a personal nature such as incidentals, excess baggage charges
  • airport taxes/entrance fees, port charges, foreign government departure taxes
  • Visas (unless otherwise indicated), Inspection, Customs, Immigration and Naturalization fees Additional fuel surcharges on cruises
  • Travel Insurance including Medical, Lost Baggage and Trip cancellation
  • Optional activities (golf, watersports, etc.)
  • any other activities or items not explicitly advertised as included in the price of a Tour

 

Reservations/Booking and Deposits:  To book a Tour, each Traveler (or leader of a Group of Travelers) must submit:

 

A.     A completed booking form signed electronically by the main Traveler. By submitting the booking form on the payments page, the traveler accepts our full Terms and Conditions.  

B.     A deposit of 30% of the Tour price (minimum $250 per person), is due immediately upon booking.

C.     The full balance of the trip cost is due ninety days (90) before the trip departure date.

D.      If you book your trip with us ninety days (90 days) or less before the departure date, the full cost of the trip is due at that time.

E.      In the instance payment is made by certified check or wire transfer, reservations will only commence once the check is cleared.

F.      Availability of Services and Accommodations cannot be guaranteed until a Tour is booked.  We will exercise our best efforts to book the Services and Accommodations described in the Tour Itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of Tour date, we may be forced to offer substitutes.  In this instance we will notify you as soon as possible and try to substitute comparable Services and Accommodations based on availability.

G.     Ticketing & credit card processing for international transport and other select domestic airfare pertaining to a specific country is done by a 3rd party and not included in your total land package price unless otherwise stated.

H.     Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $250 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of 30% of program price. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to loss of 100% of program price.

       *NOTE: Certain destinations require a 30% non-refundable deposit at the time of booking and therefore, would supersede our standard cancellation policy prior to 90 days in this instance.
