Welcome to Chile! Upon arrival at the airport, you will be greeted by one of our local Travelous, English-speaking representatives who will be holding a sign with your name printed on it. Your representative will accompany you to your hotel and assist you with check-in.

Enjoy an evening of culture, food and wine. This is a great way to explore Chile and learn about its rich history and renewed artistic scene. Explore the "Bellas Artes" neighborhood with cafes, restaurants and French neoclassical architecture. Stop for a favorite Chilean beverage: an iced coffee and a renowned ice cream. On the way, discover local artisans, galleries, shops and gourmet food before arriving at "Barrio Lastarria" to see the historic and cultural center GAM to discuss beer trends and social implications. Close with a bang at the most complete wine bar in Santiago, where guided by one of their professional sommeliers, savor delicious tapas paired with fine wines.

Santiago

Travel from Santiago, directly to Isla Negra to visit the museum house of the Chilean Nobel Prize winning poet Pablo Neruda. The collections of bottles, ships figureheads and manuscripts are the highlights here. Continue to Valparaiso, a port city founded in the XVI century and discover the flights of stairs, historic lifts and narrow walkways that make up this historic town, in the afternoon, return to Santiago.

Puerto Varas

Begin today"s tour of Puerto Varas, also known as The City of the Roses, with a visit to the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Built in Baroque Style it's an exact replica of a church in Black Forest, Germany, the hometown of many colonizers who settled in Chile starting in 1852. Afterwards, take a stroll downtown by the shore of the beautiful Llanquihue Kake and weather-permitting; catch a glimpse of the Osorno Volcano.

Continue along the Pan-American road to Puerto Montt where we begin with a visit to the highest place in Puerto Montt city, where you"ll get the best view of the city, the ocean and Tenglo Island. From there, head to the German Monument located in the Main Square and the Cathedral, witnessing the German influence in the architecture of the houses, garden and buildings, and the mix of both cultures. Continue to Angelmo, known Hand Crafts and Central Market. Witness how the fresh seafood arrives from the boats to the buyers. Also see typical cooking places, which are basically restaurants where you can find sea food, fish and other delicious specialties..

Puerto Varas

We depart Puerto Varas to Pargua to board a ferry to Chacao, spotting sea wolves, pelicans and sea birds along the way. Arriving in Chacao we will see houses built of Alerce wood, and the churches that are a National Heritage site, later we continue to Dalcahue, a city is located in front of Quinchao Island, along the Coast there is a special Palafito Market that receives the name Palafito, because it was uniquely constructed over water.

Later we continue to Castro the capital of Chiloe Island, where from the Gamboa viewing point we can see the world famous Palafitos. Visit the San Francisco church in front of the Main Square and the biggest Handcraft Market on the island. On the way back visit Ancud city, where we can see the San Antonio Fort one of the last Spanish fortifications in Chile, the local Museum, the Maine Square, and the Central Market which offers a variety of local eateries.

Day 6
Bariloche - Villa La Angostura

The tour will head to Petrohue, bordering the Llanquihue Lake. Throughout the journey, enjoy the imposing sights of the Osorno and Calbuco Volcanoes. Enter the Vicente Perez National Park and visit the Petrohue falls, impressive volcanic rock shapes, and observe the emerald green water.

Next set sail to Peulla, navigating on the Todos los Santos Lake (weather permitting) enjoy the scenery of Osorno and Puntiagudo Volcanoes and the Tronador Hill.

Arrive to Peulla, ecological Village, a paradise for the nature lover. Here enjoy a delightful lunch (not included).

In the afternoon board a bus to Puerto Frias, Customs procedures are required, exit Chile and enter Argentina. Cross the Andes Mountains at only 976 metres above sea level. Travel on the road to Puerto Frias, and navigate through the lake that has the same name: Lago Frias (Lake Frias) the journey continues onto Puerto Alegre, place where you will take a bus to Puerto Blest.

Depart from Puerto Blest, this will be the last navigation through Nahuel Huapi Lake with destination to Puerto Panuelo, take a bus for the last portion of the trip to the final destination, San Carlos de Bariloche.

Villa La Angostura

Villa Traful is considered one of the favorite excursions in the area. This region offers one of the most wonderful landscapes. We can see nature, archeological places, and a visit this beautiful Mountain Village surrounded by forest, creeks and its principal attraction: the Traful Lake. Depart Villa La Angostura and take the road towards San Carlos de Bariloche to reach Confluencia Traful. Witness the change of the landscape: see how the Forest starts to disappear as we go through the Patagonic Steppe. In this part of the trip we can see a beautiful view, product of many years of volcanic activity and erosion in Rio Limay Valley, called Valle Encantado (Enchanted Valley). Then we arrive at Traful Valley to see the wonderful landscapes and its archeological remains. Before the Traful Valley we get to Cuyin Manzano Valley: a beautiful river surrounded of a huge wall of basalt, where, if we have good luck we can observe Condors that dominate the sky. From there begins a valley of fertile lands and a microclimate that allows the agro-tourist activity. Before we get to Villa Traful we arrive to the "Wind Balcony", that is a cliff of glacial origin that rises 70 meters over the level of the lake and allows a panoramic views. After this stop, we continue our way to Traful. We arrive for lunch time to this Village of 500 habitants, which is hidden in the forest. Then we will continue the trip coming back via Seven Lakes road, across the magnificent Portezuelo that takes us to 930 meters sea level. See Mirror and the Correntoso Lake, before returning to Villa La Angostura.

Check in between 10:00 and 16:00 at 409 San Martin Street. Board the M/V Via Australis cruise ship at 17:30. After a welcome cocktail reception hosted by the Captain and crew, the M/V Stella Australis will depart for one of the remotest parts of the planet. The voyage will take us through the Strait of Magellan and Beagle Channel to explore one of the most breathtaking wilderness regions in the world: Southern Patagonia, which includes the Tierra del Fuego archipelago.

Punta Arenas - Wulaia Bay

We will be sailing through Murray Channel and Nassau Bay to reach Cape Horn National Park, where, weather permitting, we shall go ashore. The legendary Cape Horn was discovered in 1616 and is a sheer 425-meter (1,394-foot) high rocky promontory. For many years it was an important navigation route between the Pacific and the Atlantic, and is referred to as the "End of the Earth". The park was declared a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2005. In the afternoon, we will go ashore at historic Wulaia Bay, originally the site of one of the region"s largest Yamana aboriginal settlements. Charles Darwin landed there in 1833 during his voyage on the HMS Beagle. This area is also renowned for the mesmerizing beauty of its vegetation and geography. We will take an enchanted walk through the Magellan Forest of lengas, coigues, canelos, ferns, and other endemic vegetation, to reach a panoramic viewpoint.

Punta Arenas - Ushuaia

We navigate along the Northwest arm of the Beagle Channel to reach Pia Fjord, where we disembark. We will then take a short hike to gain a panoramic view of the spectacular Pia Glacier, which extends from the mountaintops down to the sea. In the afternoon, we will enter Garibaldi Fjord where we will disembark for a hike through the forest up to a glacial waterfall to enjoy the spectacular views.For those who choose to stay onboard, our Captain will point the bow towards the beautiful blue Garibaldi Glacier so that they can enjoy the panoramic view from the upper decks.

Punta Arenas - Aguila Glacier

In the morning, we will be sailing through Cockburn Channel to anchor in Chico Sound. Travelling in well-equipped Zodiac boats, we will explore Alakaluf Fjord and enjoy the view of Piloto and Nena Glaciers from the sea. You will find yourself being drawn to the intense blue colour of Piloto Glacier, which is due to its compression and age. We will learn about the formation of glaciers and their influence on the unexpected topography of the Fuegian-Patagonian channels. In the afternoon, we will enter the spectacular De Agostini Sound, right in the heart of the Darwin Mountain Range - the perfect viewing point to appreciate glaciers that make their way down to the sea from the upper ice field. Later that afternoon, we will travel aboard Zodiacs to the Aguila Glacier where we will embark upon an easy walk to its base. It"s the perfect opportunity to experience the beauty of Patagonia"s cold rainforest and to see how the power of nature has moulded the spectacular landscape.

Day 13
Punta Arenas - Puerto Bories

Early in the morning, weather permitting, we will go ashore on Magdalena Island*, located in the middle of the Strait of Magellan. The island used to be an essential source of supplies for navigators and explorers and is inhabited by an immense colony of Magellan Penguins that we will be able to see during our walk to the lighthouse.

Disembarkation at Punta Arenas is scheduled for 11:30.

*In September and April, this excursion is replaced by a ride aboard Zodiacs to Marta Island to observe South American Sea Lions.

  • Airfare to/from the Tour start point, including domestic or inter-country connecting flights, unless otherwise stated in itinerary.

  • items of a personal nature such as incidentals, excess baggage charges
  • airport taxes/entrance fees, port charges, foreign government departure taxes
  • Visas (unless otherwise indicated), Inspection, Customs, Immigration and Naturalization fees Additional fuel surcharges on cruises
  • Travel Insurance including Medical, Lost Baggage and Trip cancellation
  • Optional activities (golf, watersports, etc.)
  • any other activities or items not explicitly advertised as included in the price of a Tour

 

Reservations/Booking and Deposits:  To book a Tour, each Traveler (or leader of a Group of Travelers) must submit:

 

A.     A completed booking form signed electronically by the main Traveler. By submitting the booking form on the payments page, the traveler accepts our full Terms and Conditions.  

B.     A deposit of 30% of the Tour price (minimum $250 per person), is due immediately upon booking.

C.     The full balance of the trip cost is due ninety days (90) before the trip departure date.

D.      If you book your trip with us ninety days (90 days) or less before the departure date, the full cost of the trip is due at that time.

E.      In the instance payment is made by certified check or wire transfer, reservations will only commence once the check is cleared.

F.      Availability of Services and Accommodations cannot be guaranteed until a Tour is booked.  We will exercise our best efforts to book the Services and Accommodations described in the Tour Itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of Tour date, we may be forced to offer substitutes.  In this instance we will notify you as soon as possible and try to substitute comparable Services and Accommodations based on availability.

G.     Ticketing & credit card processing for international transport and other select domestic airfare pertaining to a specific country is done by a 3rd party and not included in your total land package price unless otherwise stated.

H.     Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $250 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of 30% of program price. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to loss of 100% of program price.

       *NOTE: Certain destinations require a 30% non-refundable deposit at the time of booking and therefore, would supersede our standard cancellation policy prior to 90 days in this instance.
