Welcome to Lima International Airport. Once you have cleared customs, a Travelous representative awaits your arrival holding a sign with your name printed on it. They will assist you with check in to your airport hotel for overnight stay.

A Travelous representative will escort you from the airport hotel to assist you with check-in for your flight.

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be greeted by our local Travelous, English-speaking representatives who will be holding a sign with your name printed on it. Transfer in private vehicle with English speaking driver from the Airport to your hotel.

Spend some time exploring the "White City" of Arequipa. The tour kicks off with an illustrious visit to Yanahuara District and Carmen Alto where there is a breathtaking lookout point which displays a glorious view of the city and its three volcanoes: Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu. The tour continues with a visit to the splendid Main Square, the Cathedral, considered Peru's most unique Colonial church, and the Compania de Jesus Church where there are paintings of tropical flora and fauna found in the San Ignacio Chapel.

The tour is culminated by a visit to the Santa Catalina Monastery, an intriguing space that resembles a small city and also a former private monastery of the order of St. Catherine of Siena. The monastery was built in the 16th century and finally opened its doors to the public in 1970. It is one of the most important attractions of the city as a result of its architecture which displays a harmonious fusion of Spanish and native influence.

Colca Canyon

Today you will journey by a private car with an English speaking guide from Arequipa to the famous Colca Valley (10,899ft).

On the way to Chivay, a town located at the midpoint of the Colca Valley, you will witness beautiful landscapes and vast skies that are often filled with majestic birds. The snowy peaks of the surrounding volcanoes, the many terraces of the canyon and the Vicunas reserve, inhabited by one of the four llama species found in South America, will leave you captivated.

You will have the chance to visit Calera Hotsprings, a complex of pools that offer visitors a chance to relax and acclimatize in its thermal waters while enjoying breathtaking views.

Colca Canyon

Today, you will have an early morning visit to the "Cruz del Condor" where condors can be spotted circling the skies during early morning hours.

The "Cruz del Condor", the deepest part of the canyon, will naturally exhibit the magnificent condor, the biggest bird in the world with a wingspan that can easily reach up to three meters wide. As they leave their rocky sanctuary with the warm air current in the morning to slowly ascend over the horizon, you can see them in their full splendor. Return to Chivay visiting small towns like Pinchollo, Maca and Yanque en route, making short stops in each to get to know the unique way of life of the locals.

Explore the wondrous Uros and Taquile Islands of Lake Titicaca by boat.

The tour begins with a visit to Uros Islands, a group of 40 big island-like packs made of floating totora reeds. These islands are located within the Titikaka National Reserve, where the Uros, dwellers of the lake, continue living like their ancestors did, preserving their customs and culture but above all, their own system of communal life.

You will then navigate towards Taquile Island, another enchanting island in the middle of the enormous Lake Titicaca. Visiting Taquile Island, catch a glimpse of the exceptional customs and traditions of the indigenous inhabitants and an understanding of how native peoples manage to sustain themselves so far away from the modern world.

Cusco

Enjoy a scenic full day journey from Puno to Cusco (12,421ft) with guided visits of several cultural gems en route.

Visit Alcra Pukara Museum located 140 miles north of Puno, in a town inhabited by native people who are highly involved in the production of ceramic crafts. The museum showcases a series of intriguing objects that have been found in the exploration of this center. Continue along to La Raya (14,000ft) the midpoint between Puno and Cusco. On this mountain pass, marvel at the vastness of the snowy landscapes and the distinctiveness of local fauna (llamas, alpacas and vicuna).

Continue to Raqchi, the archaeological site includes a temple built by the Incas to worship the god Wiracocha. This magnificent edifice is made of stone and clay and dates back to 200 BCE. Explore the crown jewel of the Andahuaylillas District, San Pedro Apostol Church, a beautiful building displaying Baroque and Mestizo architecture, an architectural style that originated in Cusco. This church is known as the "Sistine Chapel of the Americas" because of its rich decoration and baroque frescoes.

Cusco - Sacred Valley

Bask in the glory of the Sacred Valley through a full-day tour of its alluring attractions. Visit the Pisac Ruins, set high above the valley (9,700ft), by patterned fields and rimmed with terraces, the stone work and panoramas from Pisac ruins are quite striking. Continue to Maras Salt Terraces glistening salt mines where local communities extract salt from these mines that have been in use since pre-Columbian times. Visit the archaeological site of Moray. The Andean terraces, built on retaining walls filled with fertile soil and watered via a complex irrigation system, offered more than 250 different types of vegetables and cereals, such as corn, quinoa and kiwicha.

Next is Chinchero, a vibrant community nestled in the mountains. Its main attraction, however, is its Sunday Market, which was originally dedicated to the barter of produce by the people of the valley, today it is a hub of pulsating activity of color and movement with its range of produce, handicrafts and textiles made in pre-Columbian style.

Transfer to Ollanta Station from the Sacred Valley with private vehicle and English speaking assistance.

Travel to Aguas Calientes on board the Vistadome Valley Train, accompanied by your private guide. Upon arrival, board the 30-minutes shuttle bus to the Machu Picchu citadel.

Enjoy a private exploration of Machu Picchu, a citadel considered to be one of the most extraordinary examples of landscape architecture in the world, re-discovered in 1911 by the explorer Hiram Bingham. Located in an enclave on the saddle of a mountain, overlooking the deep canyon of the Urubamba River, in an area of lush tropical forest, it served as a place of worship, a site for star-gazing and a private hacienda of the family of the Inca Pachacutec. It consists of two main areas: one agricultural and the other urban, which is noted for its sacred zone with its temples, squares and royal tombs.

After the tour, you will take the bus to Aguas Calientes town, escorted by your private guide.

Machu Picchu - Poroy Station - Cusco

Enjoy a leisurely morning to explore Machu Picchu at your own pace. Travelous encourages you to return to Machu Picchu for a magical morning sunrise and the chance to climb Huayna Picchu.

The Machu Picchu ruins are limited to only 2,500 visitors per day between 6am and 2pm, while the Huayna Picchu hike is limited to 400 people per day. The 400 visitors are divided into two groups that depart at different times in the morning. The first group departs between 7-8am, while the second group departs between 10-11am. It is necessary to book the Huayna Picchu hike well in advance.

Board the Vistadome train as you journey to Poroy station located 20 minutes from Cusco.

Puerto Maldonado - Lima

At the appropriate time return to Puerto Maldonado in the same manner in which you arrived. Travel down the Madre de Dios River on your boat followed by shuttle transfer to the Airport.

A private guide will greet you at Lima airport and your final tour of Lima will begin upon arrival.

The guide will accompany you on a tour of colonial and modern Lima as you visit diverse touristic sites.

The city tour of Lima begins with a visit to Main Square where the Government Palace is located. After exploring this area, an unforgettable visit to Lima's splendid Colonial Cathedral will follow. The Cathedral contains 14 stunning side chapels as well as the tomb of Francisco Pizarro, the Spanish conquistador of Peru. The tour continues with a visit to San Francisco Church and Monastery which display the finest example of high Spanish Baroque. The cloisters and entrance hall are embellished with authentic Sevillian tiles dating back to 1620. Also remarkable are its Museum of Religious Art, the Zurbaran Room with its many paintings and the extensive library. The complex was built over underground catacombs, which were used as cemeteries during colonial times.

A visit to the residential areas of San Isidro, with attractive city parks such as El Olivar, as well as a visit to Miraflores, a modern district with lush gardens, bustling avenues, chic cafes and restaurants will culminate the tour.

Reservations/Booking and Deposits:  To book a Tour, each Traveler (or leader of a Group of Travelers) must submit:

 

A.     A completed booking form signed electronically by the main Traveler. By submitting the booking form on the payments page, the traveler accepts our full Terms and Conditions.  

B.     A deposit of 30% of the Tour price (minimum $250 per person), is due immediately upon booking.

C.     The full balance of the trip cost is due ninety days (90) before the trip departure date.

D.      If you book your trip with us ninety days (90 days) or less before the departure date, the full cost of the trip is due at that time.

E.      In the instance payment is made by certified check or wire transfer, reservations will only commence once the check is cleared.

F.      Availability of Services and Accommodations cannot be guaranteed until a Tour is booked.  We will exercise our best efforts to book the Services and Accommodations described in the Tour Itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of Tour date, we may be forced to offer substitutes.  In this instance we will notify you as soon as possible and try to substitute comparable Services and Accommodations based on availability.

G.     Ticketing & credit card processing for international transport and other select domestic airfare pertaining to a specific country is done by a 3rd party and not included in your total land package price unless otherwise stated.

H.     Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $250 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of 30% of program price. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to loss of 100% of program price.

       *NOTE: Certain destinations require a 30% non-refundable deposit at the time of booking and therefore, would supersede our standard cancellation policy prior to 90 days in this instance.
