Day 2
Lima

Enjoy half-day tour of Pachacamac ancient ceremonial center and the well-renowned Larco Museum.

Your guide will meet you in the morning and drive you to Pachacamac, located 31 kilometers south of Lima over the Panamerican Highway. Since pre-Inca times, it was an important ceremonial center for the worshipping of the god Pachacamac. When the Incas arrived, they respected the religion of the conquered but, at the same time, biult their temples to the Sun and the Acllahuasi (House of Chosen). A wooden idol found in the original temple of Pachacamac is exhibited in the site museum as well as ceramics and textiles.

The Larco Museum showcases remarkable chronological galleries that provide an excellent overview of 3000 years of development of Peruvian pre-Columbian history. Located in a unique vice-royal mansion of the 18th century, built over a 7th century pre-Columbian pyramid, it is surrounded by beautiful gardens.

The Museum features the finest gold and silver collection from Ancient Peru and the famous erotic archaeological collection, one of the most visited Peruvian tourist attractions. For an unforgettable experience, Larco is one of the few museums in the world where visitors can also choose to enter the storage area with its 45,000 classified archaeological objects.

Its masterpieces are considered worldwide icons of Pre-Columbian art, after being exhibited in the world's leading museums.

The Andean terraces, built on retaining walls filled with fertile soil and watered via a complex irrigation system, offer more than 250 different types of vegetables and cereals, such as corn, quinoa and kiwicha.

You will also have the opportunity to visit Chinchero, a vibrant community nestled in the mountains. Its main attraction, however, is its Sunday Market, which was originally dedicated to the barter of produce by the people of the valley, today it is a hub of pulsating activity of color and movement with its range of produce, handicrafts and textiles made in pre-Columbian style.
